The PolarPro Peter McKinnon Signature Edition 77mm Variable ND Filter, with a range of 1.8 to 2.7, is designed for lenses with a 77mm front filter thread and provides a 6 to 9-stop exposure reduction. The 1.8 to 2.7 density darkens the entire image, allowing for a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than would typically be possible. The density level is easily controlled by rotating the front filter ring, helping to predetermine the additional exposure length required. By slowing the shutter speed, you can convey motion or increase blur. By widening the aperture, the image's depth of field can be more easily controlled.
